Here is what we counted, what the answers can tell us, and how to check a finding for yourself.
The sample
This release covers 10,719 completed quizzes from 16 March 2026 to 25 September 2026, measured in UTC. We pool public quizzes and invited quizzes. The unit is one completion. We cannot reliably identify every repeat participant, so this is not a count of verified unique people.
People chose to take the quiz. They were not randomly sampled from a country, age group, workforce, or other population. A larger sample makes its own patterns easier to see, but does not make it representative.
Which completions make it into a story?
The quiz normally presents 20 questions selected from a bank of 24, with questions and options shuffled. We include completions with exactly 20 answer rows, 20 distinct questions, and recognized question and answer wording.
That leaves 10,610 eligible completions. We exclude 109 completed records that do not meet those checks, including missing or duplicate answers. We use the same eligible sample for every story and export.
The denominator follows the question
A single-question chart includes only eligible completions that answered that question. A two-question chart includes only eligible completions that answered both. A question someone did not see is never counted as a negative answer.
For a conditional finding, we first select an answer group within that shared sample. The numerator counts how many also chose the second set of answers. The denominator is everyone in the selected group, including those who chose other answers to the second question.
For example, to reproduce the quiet-leadership story, use question 10 options 2 and 3 for the group. Count question 1 options 0 and 1 inside that group, then divide by all question 1 answers inside that group. The CSV stores question 1 first because pairs are ordered by question ID. Option IDs start at zero and refer to the catalog, not the order shown during the quiz.
What the stories establish
They show how stated preferences coexist in these completions. They do not establish what causes a preference, how someone actually behaves, or how good they are at a task. Each question asks for one of four answers, so the quiz leaves out some of the nuance a conversation would reveal.
We explored many question combinations before choosing these five stories. These are exploratory findings, not a set of hypotheses confirmed on an independent sample. We show the comparison group so a large overlap is not mistaken for an unusually strong association. Percentages are rounded to one decimal place; exact counts are available in the downloads.
We do not publish a population margin of error. The uncertainty from self-selection, repeat participation, and people joining together cannot be summarized by a conventional survey margin alone.
The animals are your reading companions
The illustrations give each story a little personality. They do not identify the animals received by people in the chart. All five stories analyze answer choices directly.
A dataset you can actually use
The answer file has 96 rows, one for every option across 24 questions. The pair file has 4,416 rows, covering all 276 pairs and all 16 answer combinations per pair. Zero-count combinations are included. Each row includes the release ID, the latest completion time in the release, a count, and its denominator.
These are aggregate tables. They contain no names, emails, organization details, account IDs, individual timestamps, or individual response records. They support single-question and two-question analyses. They cannot support person-level analysis or filters across three or more questions.
Do not add every row to estimate the number of participants. Each eligible completion contributes 20 single-question answers and 190 pairs.
Fresh data, with a date attached
The published dataset is refreshed daily. Charts and downloads use the same dated release. Every download link identifies its release, so a saved link can still retrieve the data behind a story even after newer results arrive. If a refresh fails, the previous release remains available and its date remains visible.
This release was generated on 25 September 2026. Its identifier is 8992b92d5fbf2783be49.
Use it in your own story
You may reuse the aggregate tables and accompanying charts. Please credit Animal Personality Quiz and link to the source page. Include the data date and the denominator for the claim you use, and describe the sample as voluntary quiz completions. Contact us if you need help interpreting a table.
