Build your own animal
Every animal personality is a mix of six dials. Move them and watch your animal change, trade a dial with a Lion or an Owl to see what it does, then take on a challenge: become a Penguin in as few moves as you can. It uses the same matching rule as the real quiz.

Patient
Resilient and resourceful, you endure challenges with strength. Camels embody perseverance and adaptability.
We pick an animal. Move the dials until you become it, in as few moves as you can.
The six dials, explained
Every dial runs between two poles, and neither pole is better. A score near the middle means you use both ends depending on the situation, which is common and perfectly useful.
Social
Solo depth
Someone at this end recovers and does their best thinking away from the crowd; prefers a few meaningful conversations over a roomful of them.
Group recharge
Someone at this end comes alive with people, thinks in conversation, and builds rapport as they work.
Energy
Deliberate pace
Someone at this end moves with intention, wants the picture clear before they commit, and protects a sustainable pace.
High momentum
Someone at this end creates momentum, starts while others are still lining up the pieces, and likes variety.
Thinking
Analytical
Someone at this end builds from evidence, systems, and analysis; wants the logic to hold before they move.
Intuitive
Someone at this end reads pattern and gut feel; lets context and emotional texture inform the call.
Role
Contributor
Someone at this end does their best work inside a frame someone else holds; contributes depth without needing the title.
Owner / leader
Someone at this end takes ownership, sets direction, and holds the frame for others.
Adaptability
Stability & process
Someone at this end prefers a stable process, a predictable environment, and a plan they can refine.
Pivot-ready
Someone at this end pivots when the picture changes and treats uncertainty as material.
Expression
Reserved
Someone at this end listens first, processes privately, and speaks when it counts.
Expressive
Someone at this end shares early and often; figures it out in the telling.
How the matching works
When you take the quiz, each answer nudges one or more of the six dimensions. The raw totals are then converted to percentiles against everyone who has taken the quiz, so a dial reading of 80 means “further towards this pole than 80 percent of people”. Each of the 31 animals has a home position in that six-dimensional space, and your result is the animal whose home is closest, with a small calibrated adjustment so that rarer animals are still reachable.
The builder skips the questions and lets you set the dials directly. That makes it a map rather than a measurement: it shows you where each animal lives and what separates neighbours, but it cannot tell you where you live. For that, take the five-minute quiz and read the method.
Experiments to try
Each of these starts from a typical animal and moves a single dial. The result is what the builder gives you today. Try them, then try your own.
Start as a Owl and move Expression from 0 to 85 (towards expressive): you become a Penguin.
Start as a Lion and move Role from 100 to 15 (towards contributor): you become a Monkey.
Start as a Lion and move Social from 100 to 15 (towards solo depth): you become a Eagle.
Start as a Penguin and move Adaptability from 0 to 85 (towards pivot-ready): you become a Fox.
Start as a Dolphin and move Energy from 100 to 15 (towards deliberate pace): you become a Parrot.
Start as a Tortoise and move Energy from 0 to 90 (towards high momentum): you become a Bear.
Start as a Cat and move Social from 23 to 85 (towards group recharge): you become a Dog.
Start as a Dog and move Thinking from 57 to 10 (towards analytical): you become a Eagle.
Start as a Beaver and move Adaptability from 0 to 90 (towards pivot-ready): you become a Hawk.
Start as a Fox and move Social from 62 to 15 (towards solo depth): you become a Hawk.
Where every animal lives
A typical setting for each of the 31 animals, the same one the “Start as” menu loads. Low numbers lean to the left pole of the dial, high numbers to the right.
Personality is a mix, not a box. Two people with the same animal can sit in very different corners of its region, and the “Next closest” bars show which neighbours they share traits with.
Some dials matter more for some animals. Trading a single dial with a Lion changes some animals instantly and leaves others untouched. That is the dial that defines the difference.
The middle is not nowhere. A build with every dial at 50 still lands on an animal, usually on a border. Most people are balanced on at least two dials.
No pole is better. Every animal has strengths and a shadow side, and the profile pages describe both.
Want to run this with a team? Have everyone take the quiz, then put the team map on screen next to the builder and ask: which single dial would turn our team's most common animal into the one we need for this project?
Quick answers
How does the animal builder decide which animal I am?
Each dial is a percentile: 0 means more of that pole than almost everyone who has taken the quiz, 100 means more of the other pole than almost everyone. The six dials make a point, and the builder finds the closest of the 31 animal profiles using the same calibrated rule the quiz uses. If your quiz answers landed on that point, the quiz would give you the same animal.
Is this the same as taking the quiz?
No. Here you choose the dials; in the quiz your answers to 20 everyday scenarios set them for you, which is a much better measure of how you actually behave. The builder is for understanding the animals and the dimensions. The quiz is for finding yours.
Why does moving one dial sometimes change everything and sometimes nothing?
Every animal owns a region of the six-dimensional space. Deep inside a region, a dial can move a long way without crossing a border. Near a border, a small move tips you into a neighbour. The "Next closest" bars show how near the neighbours are, and "On the border" means one nudge will change your animal.
What does trading a dial teach me?
Which dial makes an animal what it is. Start as an Owl and take the Lion's Role dial: if you stay an Owl, Role is not what separates them; if you change, it was. Trading one dial at a time is the quickest way to see the difference between two animals.
Is any end of a dial better?
No. Every dial is bipolar and neither pole is better: deliberate is not slower-and-worse, it is a different strength from high momentum. The animals are patterns, and every pattern comes with strengths and a shadow side.
Does the builder save anything?
Your collection of discovered animals is stored only in your browser. Share this build puts your six dials in the link so a friend can open exactly what you made. Nothing else is sent anywhere.
