Question of the day generator
One question for the whole team, every day, the same for everyone who opens this page. Post it in the channel, answer in a thread, and read the best ones out at the stand-up. Need a different one? The random generator below has the whole bank.
Today's question ยท 2026-10-09
What is your ideal way to receive praise?
Same question for everyone who opens this page today. A new one every day at midnight UTC.
Work ยท 1 of 110
What is one thing that went well this week that nobody has mentioned?
Tip: the right and left arrow keys move between questions. Copy 10 pastes a numbered list from the current filter into your agenda or chat.
How to run a question of the day
- Post the question in the team channel before the day starts. Copy for the channel does it in one click.
- Answer it yourself first, in one or two sentences. People follow the example they see.
- Let answers land in a thread through the day. No deadline, no obligation.
- Read two or three out at the stand-up or the end of the day.
- Keep the thread. After a month it is the best record of who the team is.
The daily question is deterministic: the date picks it, so a distributed team in three time zones sees the same one. If today's does not fit the mood, the random generator has the rest.

When a question is not enough
A daily question keeps a team talking. The animal quiz gives it something to talk about: everyone takes it in five minutes, the free team page shows the results on one map, and the question of the day for the next week writes itself. For a meeting opener instead of a channel post, use the icebreaker question generator or the check-in question generator.
Quick answers
- How does the question of the day work?
- The question at the top changes every day at midnight UTC and is the same for everyone who opens the page that day, so a team can post it in the morning channel and compare answers. Below it, the random generator gives you any question from the bank whenever you want one.
- Are the questions safe for work?
- Yes. All 110 avoid bodies, money, health, religion, politics and relationships. The Deeper set asks about values and lessons, but every question can be answered in a sentence or passed.
- How do teams use a question of the day?
- Post it in the team channel first thing, let people answer in a thread, and read two or three out at the stand-up. It takes a minute, everyone has spoken once, and over a month the thread becomes the best record of who the team actually is.
- Can I get a week of questions at once?
- Yes. Set a filter and use Copy 10 in the random generator to paste a numbered list for the week ahead. The full bank is also printed by category on this page.
- What is the difference between this and the icebreaker generator?
- The icebreaker generator is for the start of a meeting and is sorted by meeting type. The question of the day is for the channel: one shared question, answered in writing, no meeting needed.
