This or That questions generator
Two options, one tap. Pick a category, read the question out loud, and let the room choose a side. Work-safe by default, with food, funny, deep and seasonal sets when the meeting is over.

How to play This or That
The rules fit in one sentence: someone reads two options, everyone picks one. The fun is in the split. A room that divides evenly on “camera on or camera off” has just learned something about itself, and a room that agrees unanimously on pineapple has a running joke for the rest of the day.
- Pick a category above. Work is the safe default for a meeting; Funny is for the end of one.
- Read the question out loud, or share your screen so people can read it themselves.
- Everyone answers at once: hands up, a thumbs-up emoji in chat, or by shouting it.
- Ask one person why. Keep it to a sentence, then hit Next.
- Three to five questions is a good opener. Ten is a game.
This or That questions for work

Tips for using This or That with a team
- Use it as a check-in substitute. Three quick questions get the same “everyone has spoken once” effect as a round of updates, in a third of the time.
- For a remote stand-up, post one question in the channel ten minutes before the call and let people answer asynchronously. The call starts with a result instead of silence.
- Pair it with the animal quiz. Once people know their animals, the splits get funnier: the Owls will plan the whole week and the Monkeys will decide each morning. See the 31 animal personalities.
- Keep the Deep set for groups that already trust each other, and skip it in a first meeting.
- If you need a question people can answer in a full sentence, switch to the icebreaker question generator.
Quick answers
- What is This or That?
- This or That is a quick-fire game where someone reads two options and everyone picks one, out loud or by raising a hand. There are no right answers, which is why it works as an icebreaker: people reveal a little about themselves without having to tell a story.
- How do I use the generator in a meeting?
- Share your screen, set the filter to Work, and read one question per person or one for the whole room. Thirty seconds per question is plenty. For remote teams, post the question in chat and ask everyone to reply with A or B.
- Are the questions safe for work?
- Yes. All 170 prompts avoid politics, religion, bodies, money and relationships. The Deep set asks about values and trade-offs but stays easy to answer in front of a manager.
- Can I get a list instead of one question at a time?
- Yes. Copy 10 puts ten random questions from the current filter on your clipboard as a numbered list, ready for an agenda, a slide or a group chat. The full bank is also printed further down this page.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. The two options are large tap targets, so the usual way to play in person is to pass one phone around the table and let each person tap their side before handing it on.
